Martin Luther King Jr.--A Journey to be like Christ!

Martin Luther King Jr., a name we all know. This name is not only a name that you should think of when talking about the Civil Rights Movement but yet a name that should come to mind when you truly wonder is the color of Christ’s skin important. If you ask me it is not. Martin Luther King Jr. felt the same way.

In reading in the Color of Christ on page 212 you see that King tried to make Jesus into a universal savior for everyone. Jesus’ love and justice was for all people no matter your color, age, heritage, or religious belief. Martin Luther King Jr. tried to take the view of Christ off of his skin and on to His actions, His teachings, and His beliefs.
Not only did King believe the teaching of Jesus but he also urged his followers to try and emulate the life that Jesus walked. Love others, be kind to your neighbor and above all, be peaceful in times of violence/troubles. Even in being peaceful, Martin Luther King Jr. was arrested many times for his beliefs.
King understood the final days of Christ as his final calling and King was ready to “take up his cross” if called upon. Martin Luther King Jr. was willing to die for the cause.

Jesus died for his cause and Marin Luther King Jr. was willing to die for his. What is your cause and are you willing to die for it?
Happy Easter & God Bless!
