In the second
chapter of Devoted to Nature by Evan Berry, he tells a story about how these
people from Seattle loved mountains and so they basically would meet at a state
park and just share their love of mountains together. Then later down the line
they made the group made their purpose more of a religious purpose. Which I
completely understand, I mean people go to church to share their love of God
and these people started meeting because of their love for mountains. I think
that religion and nature goes hand and hand a lot. If it wasn’t for a higher
power than would we even have the mature we have today? Would we be able to
enjoy it they way we do without a higher power? At times you get people who don’t
understand why businesses want to cut down all these trees that God made. Why
are they making God’s creatures homeless? I would say a current issue that
religion and nature go hand and hand is when you talk about deforestation.
Humans are not the only creatures on this planet even though a lot of people
think we are. People forget that God made all creatures and that in that view
when you cut down whole forests. You are cutting downs homes to animals and
insects and you are killing them. Now if people were doing that to humans it
would be awful but, its not so bad because they are just animals or bugs. Which
in reality they are all God’s creatures.
