Racism in the church
Is racism still alive today in Christian churches? In the summer of 2012 a African-American couple were planning on getting married in a Baptist church In Crystal Springs Mississippi. The couple were not regular members of the church but we're planning on becoming regular members after their wedding date. The congregation of the Baptist Church which is predominately a white congregation petition for the couple not to be allowed to get married in this church. This raises the question of whether racism is still around and still in the Christian church. In every state you have you have predominantly black churches and white churches and then there's the ones that are of a mixture of both white and black people. My question is, why in this day is there still a separation of color in the Christian church. Christianity is supposed to be a religion that allows every race into the fold, if this is true why do we have separate churches for blacks and white why in this day of a quality for race and gender, why can't all races going to any Christian church that they want. I understand that the congregation has a set of people that attend regularly but if the Christian Church is supposed to allow everyone and shouldn't anyone be a allowed walk in and not have to be scrutinized for what race they are? It seems that usually very large churches or more Likely to have a mixture of races in their congregations. Churches like Joel Holstein in Houston Texas has probably one of the largest corrugations in America and it is considered a mega church has a very big mixture of all races. But churches like the ones that I live near in a small town in Louisiana armoire predominately one race for the other. I've noticed this before and it wasn't until I came across an article talking about a black couple being banned by the predominately white congregation that I really didn't notice how bad it truly was. So if you were to go into a predominantly black church would you feel awkward if they asked you to leave? I think it's time for racism to leave the church and Do what is considered the right thing that Christianity says to do and that is to allow everybody to matter racer or gender into the house of God.
