Blog post 4

In Kennedy’s speech he discusses how his religion has become an issue for him while running for president. He is basically saying that it is ridiculous that people are focusing on his religious views rather than focusing on his political views. That the people should be looking at the real issues in the world and hear how he wants to fix these issues. The way he is going to help with these huge issues is what they should be looking at not the fact that he is catholic. I really can’t imagine a president making this kind of speech in this day of age. I feel that people don’t look at the candidate’s religion as much as they used to. I also don’t think it is as taboo to be catholic as it was when Kennedy was running for president. I may be wrong when I say that people don’t look or care as much about a candidate’s religion as they used to. I just can’t see this being a talk that is needed to be given. I also think now people are allowed to be more open about their beliefs.
