GitWH 2: Political Boogaloo

Jimmy Carter is described as 'Born Again' Christian but lost the 'born again' voters for a variety of reasons. One of these reasons was his stance on racial segregation, many baptists were southerners and thus maintained disdain toward Carter who was on the side of the desegregation of schools, this extended to the court decision that religious private schools were no longer tax exempt due to their racist policies regarding Non-white applicants and students. Another reason was the irony of his interview with Playboy, the man touted his Christian ideas of Adultery in the middle of such a publication resulting in much mocking by the press. The third reason he was losing these people was his outlook on the court case regarding abortion, the book claims that while abortion was something he personally was opposed to, he never wanted to make abortion illegal, despite him pushing his religion into his campaigning.due to all these factors this may have left these voters to believe he wasn't as passionate about his faith as he claimed to be.
